This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as production operators, working in open cut coal or metalliferous mines or quarries, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.
Packaging rules for this qualification require the completion of 13 units of which 3 are core units and 10 are elective units.
Delivery Mode:
Face-to-face classroom, practical training, and supported self-paced learning. After completing the face-to-face component, students will have an additional 12 weeks of self-paced theory training, supported by an RTO trainer if required.
This qualification can be completed in 12 to 12 months (or shorter) through flexible delivery options and personalised learning opportunities.

What You Need to Provide:
Students participating in this course are required to wear enclosed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. To gain access to the practical site, students may be required to wear long sleeves, a high visibility vest or shirt, long pants, and safety boots. Course-specific practical site requirements will be discussed prior to enrolment.

The evidence gathering process will reflect specific requirements for units within the training package. Each candidate’s attainment of the units of competency within this qualification is achieved by their successful completion of a range of assessment activities.

Candidates are required to demonstrate that they can apply the knowledge and skills learnt in a range of situations and in varying contexts so many of the assessment requirements of the units of competencies will need to be demonstrated on more than one occasion.

Students who successfully complete the course may choose to continue to a specialised study such as RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction, RII40720 Certificate IV in Civil Construction if desired.
