Wage Subsidies: Bringing Big Benefits to Your Business

Wage subsidies offer up to $10,000 over 6 months to eligible employers who hire individuals into ongoing positions through Workforce Australia, Transition to Work, or a ParentsNext provider. These subsidies help cover initial hiring costs and are tailored to match your business needs and the circumstances of the participant. 

Post-Placement Support: Ensuring Long-Term Benefits

Hiring the right person is just the beginning. With our post-placement support, we stay in touch with you and your new employee for the first 6 months, addressing any concerns and helping ensure a smooth transition. Our goal is to help your new hire settle in and become a valuable part of your team.

You can use a wage subsidy in a number of ways, all of which benefit your business.

  • To cover any costs associated with recruitment
  • To pay the cost of training the new employee
  • To purchase any specialist safety equipment the new employee might need
  • To cover part of the wage the new employee will receive

In addition to the subsidy, you get access to a pool of participants who want to work for you. The initiative is voluntary with competent and trained participants who want to be part of the workforce.

There are two wage subsidies available to employers, based on the circumstances of the eligible* jobseeker:

  • 1 – Youth Bonus Wage Subsidy (15-24-year-olds) $10,000
  • 2- Parents Wage Subsidy $10,000

 

To qualify, your business must have a valid Australian Business Number and be registered with Workforce Australia Online for Businesses. Subsidies are available for various employment types, but they cannot be combined with other government funding for the same role or applied to positions filled by family members, commission-based, self-employment, or subcontracted roles.
