About this Certification

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as skilled operators with civil construction plant, who apply a broad range of skills in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. These individuals may provide theoretical advice and support a team.

Delivery Mode and Duration:
Full time intensive training program combining classroom learning with hands-on practice in a simulated construction environment. Face-to-face training duration over 12-week period, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. For students requiring extra assistance, up to 12 months is allowed to complete the course. These students will have access to ad-hoc support sessions organised with the trainer to help them progress.

Qualification:

Certificate will be issued under ABV (RTO 52592). Upon successful completion, student will receive:

CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry statement of attainment¹, and
WA Construction Induction Card¹

Statement of Attainment: A statement of attainment will be supplied for partial completion of the course.

Packaging rules for this qualification require the completion of 20 units of which 15 are core units and 5 are elective units.

Additional Unit

CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

Students who do not hold the General Construction Induction Training Card can choose to complete an additional unit of competency, CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry¹, as part of our site induction. This unit will be undertaken alongside the RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations training program.

What You Need to Provide:
Students participating in this course are required to wear enclosed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. To gain access to the practical site, students may be required to wear long sleeves, a high visibility vest or shirt, long pants, and safety boots.

Prerequisites:

There are no formal requirements for this qualification, however, students will require to undertake an LLN assessment prior/during enrolment and achieve a minimum of ACSF Level 2 (sufficient to understand basic Maths and English).
Students must be physically fit and able to undertake manual handling task, work outdoor, carry items, mount and dismount the earthmoving machines, and manoeuvre hand tools.
Students must be 16 years or older at the time of enrolment.
Student must be citizen/permanent resident or have legal rights to study in Australia

WA Funding Eligibility Criteria:

Students must have turned 16 years of age.
Students must be unemployed or under employed and able to access mainstream training.
Students must have a written referral from an Approved Participation Referral Agent for Job Seekers; or be referred by themselves; another agency or recruited.
Students primary place of residence must be in Western Australia.
Students must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or holders of a sub-class 309, 444, 785, 790, or 820 visa; secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 457or 482 visa; holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790; Ukraine citizens who are holders of a visa sub-class 449 or 786; Afghan citizens who are holders of a visa sub-class 449; and holders of a bridging visa who are eligible to work, and who have made a valid application for a subclass 866.
Students under the age of 18 who are mandatory high school age must have an accompanying NOA or have an exemption.

Proof of eligibility is required at the time of enrolment.

Assessment Methods:

The evidence gathering process will reflect specific requirements for units within the training package. Each candidate’s attainment of the units of competency within this qualification is achieved by their successful completion of a range of assessment activities.

For each unit of Competency, these activities may include:

written tests including questioning and case studies
oral questions, and
submission of supplementary assessment evidence
practical demonstrations

Candidates are required to demonstrate that they can apply the knowledge and skills learnt in a range of situations and in varying contexts so many of the assessment requirements of the units of competencies will need to be demonstrated on more than one occasion.

Qualification fees with the following unit option:

Students who are not eligible for WA funded student tuition fees:

$6,500 (includes a non-refundable deposit of $400). No additional prepayments are required.

Students who are eligible for WA funded student tuition fees:

The student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.

For Lower Fees, Local Skills eligible courses, annual fee cap limits apply of $400 for concession eligible students and $1,200 for non-concession eligible students. Further Study Options:

Students who successfully complete RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations may choose to continue their studies toward a higher-level qualification in civil construction.
