In this course, you will gain the essential knowledge and tools to recognise and work effectively with clients impacted by alcohol and/or other drugs, with a focus on harm minimisation. You will gain an understanding of the historical and social constructs of alcohol and drugs and the changes in alcohol and drug use. You will learn how to assist clients with activities of daily living and how to respond to the immediate and ongoing needs of people affected by alcohol and/or other drugs. Whether you are starting your career or looking to strengthen your capabilities, this course will equip you to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Course Information
The delivery mode of this Skill Set is suitable for independent, self-motivated learners and is delivered through flexible, self-paced online study. A qualified trainer is available throughout for additional support. One day is set aside for a practical role play assessment, and students have three months to complete the course in full.
You can enrol at any time. Once you have finished the e-learning modules and knowledge assessments, your trainer will be in touch to schedule your role play session.
Training Location
This Skill Set is delivered via our e-interactive online Learning Management System (aXcelerate) with role play demonstration conducted via Microsoft Teams.

CHCAOD002 Work with clients who are intoxicated
Enrolment Information:
Students are required to read the Student Handbook and agree to the Terms and Conditions prior to enrolment. All students must satisfactorily complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment at a minimum of ACSF Level 3 and participate in a course suitability discussion during the pre-enrolment process. Students may be required to complete a digital literacy assessment. Once the enrolment is reviewed, students will receive confirmation of their enrolment. You are required to apply for a personal education number known as Unique Student Identifier (USI) as part of studying a nationally recognised course. To apply for a USI, go to www.usi.gov.au.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

Students must demonstrate the ability to apply their knowledge and skills across a range of situations and varying contexts. As a result, many assessment requirements will need to be demonstrated on more than one occasion.

Further Study Options:
Students who successfully complete this Skill Set and choose to continue their training with another provider will receive credit for 2 units towards the CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs qualification.
