First Graduates of Banksia Hill’s Construction Skills Program Earn Their Certificate II in Civil Construction

At Training Alliance Group, we believe in the transformative power of education and skills training to change lives. Recently, our initiative at Banksia Hill Detention Centre provided young detainees, for the first time, with an opportunity to gain valuable skills and certifications that pave the way for meaningful careers in mining and civil construction.

Through the completion of their Certificate II in Civil Construction, these young individuals have not only gained essential industry knowledge but also acquired life skills that empower them to build a brighter future. This initiative has been instrumental in fostering personal growth and providing them with the tools to contribute positively to the community. While external recognition is always appreciated, the real success lies in the lasting difference we’re making in their lives.

The graduation ceremony, hosted by the Department of Justice, was a milestone moment for these young people. It was an honor to have Hon. Yaz Mubarakai MLA and Terry Healy MLA in attendance, supporting this important work. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Department of Justice and the Waalitj Foundation , whose support has been vital in making this program a reality.

We’re also excited to see The West Australian, Perth Now (Canning Paper), and the Gosnells Examiner acknowledge the impact of this program. Through their coverage, the broader community can see how this initiative is empowering young detainees, providing them with the skills they need to build meaningful careers and a brighter future.

As we reflect on this achievement, we remain focused on the deeper purpose: making a tangible and positive impact on the lives of these young individuals. We are incredibly proud of the role we’re playing in supporting their transformation and look forward to the continued success of this initiative.
