This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in an operational role in civil construction, who undertake a prescribed range of tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental knowledge, in a defined context working under supervision. This qualification provides a solid entry point for anyone seeking to start a career in civil construction or pursue more advanced training and certifications
Delivery Mode:
This traineeship-based program is structured over a period of 15 months, with training and assessment taking place for approximately half a day per month at the student’s workplace. Delivery and assessment follow a one-on-one consultation approach within a student-focused delivery model, grounded in both theoretical and experiential learning. This learning occurs through the use of a simulated workplace and, where possible, real civil construction projects. The program enables students to gain experience in a range of applications, including mobile plant operation, tools and equipment handling and maintenance, dewatering, site planning, communication, safety, and risk management.

Statement of Attainment: A statement of attainment will be supplied for partial completion of the course.
Certificate will be issued under ABV RTO (52592).
Enrolment Information:
Students are required to read the Student Handbook and agree to the Terms and Conditions prior to enrolment. All students must satisfactorily complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment at a minimum of ACSF Level 1 and participate in a course suitability discussion during the pre-enrolment process. Once the enrolment is reviewed, students will receive conformation of their enrolment. A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) is mandatory for all students.

What You Need to Provide:
For practical training and assessment, students will be required to wear enclosed shoes and clothing suitable for the weather, hard hat, long sleeves, gloves, a high-visibility vest or shirt, long pants and safety boots (with safety toe cap and non-slip soles).

The evidence gathering process will reflect specific requirements for units within the training package. Each candidate’s attainment of the units of competency within this qualification is achieved by their successful completion of a range of assessment activities.
For each unit of Competency, these activities may include:
Candidates are required to demonstrate that they can apply the knowledge and skills learnt in a range of situations and in varying contexts so many of the assessment requirements of the units of competencies will need to be demonstrated on more than one occasion.

Further Study Options:
Students who successfully complete the course may choose to continue their studies with the RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations (available from ABV RTO 52592), or pursue specialised study, such as the RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction (available from MTACS RTO 52053).
