Young Workers: A ‘Breath of Fresh Air’

Young Workers: A ‘Breath of Fresh Air’

Training Alliance Group (TAG) works with dozens of Western Australian companies to prepare and place younger people into work as part of the Federal Transition to Work program.

These companies include InfraBuild, Australia’s largest manufacturer and supplier of steel long products to the manufacturing, housing, mining and agricultural industries.

InfraBuild Operations Manager Jackie Cotton said she approached Stirling Skills Training through TAG as she was looking for a change in culture for the business.

“I was looking for keen young people with the right attitude who I could train.” Ms Cotton said.

“Stirling Skills provided good candidates and supported both the trainees and the company throughout the process.
“In the end it was a hard job to select the successful candidates and we have a highly effective team of young people delivering a high quality service in a safe manner.

“The overall result has been a change in culture and the standards of productivity and safety are at an all-time high.”

Ms Cotton said a number of the trainees will in time transition to supervisory and managerial positions with ongoing training.

“It has been a breath of fresh air to deal with young people are who so keen to work and who have been a pleasure to nurture, and guide.”
